A private library is more than the sum of its books. Built over years, sometimes generations, it can reflect the interests, travels and life of the person who assembled it. The Bruton Book Exchange works with collectors, families and estates to understand and value libraries with care.
Every collection is different. Some contain individual rarities; others are important for their focus, provenance or the relationship between the books themselves. We identify significant editions, inscriptions, bindings and associations that can easily be overlooked.

When the time comes to sell, we advise on the best approach for the collection as a whole. Books may be offered individually through the Exchange, at auction or privately, depending on where we believe they will find the right audience.
For larger libraries, we can visit and manage everything from valuation and collection to cataloguing, photography, sale and delivery. There is no need to prepare an inventory. A few photographs and a conversation are usually all we need to begin.
